THE ART OF HARUKA MISAWA

Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder and I have a feeling that most people would deem the exquisite and thoughtful art of Haruka Misawa to be just that. Her art feels like she's letting us peek right into her creative mind. I recently discovered her portfolio and I wanted to share one of my favorites so far - pencil shavings. These charming and quite lovely thin wood blooms are the outcome of a pencil sharpener. Aren't they just stunning? It's amazing what she saw when she looked at what most of us would consider useless.
Misawa has already had a substantial career working for design firms in Japan and, more recently, began producing installations under her own label @ Misawa Design Institute. You can check out her work on her site as well as her fab Instagram feed.
